Health Care Plan at a glance

* Costs $950 billion over 10 years, more than the Senate bill, but less than the House. As with those plans, tax increases and some spending cuts cover the costs.

* Requires everyone to buy insurance or pay a penalty, but adjusts the penalty for some workers.

* Does not include a public option, as some Democrats wanted, but would require coverage of pre-existing conditions.

* Adjusts and, for some, increases tax assistance to buy insurance.

* Does not require companies to provide insurance, but penalizes those that don’t. Penalties would be adjusted to help smaller businesses, which also get tax credits to provide insurance.

* Delays taxing “Cadillac” health care plans at work, and raises the threshold before those taxes kick in.

* Raises Medicare taxes and imposes a 2.9 percent levy on income such as dividends and rents for singles making $200,000 and married couples making $250,000.

* Fully closes the “doughnut hole” that can cause a gap in drug coverage under Medicare, but cuts payments for Medicare Advantage.

* Ends the “Cornhusker kickback” that favored Nebraska.

* Establishes new federal oversight of insurance company rate increases.

With that being said this cartoon is satirizing the fact that Obama thinks that what he is doing with the health care reform is him doing what the country wants. In the picture when he finds the vein he exclaims that it is, "raging with excitement" however from the facial expressions on the person's face it is obvious that he is not feeling excitement, rather he is fearful over what is going to happen. It is true that many people don't even know what the health care bill is even about. Out of the several thousand pages in its binding I find it hard to believe that many have read it thoroughly and to its fullest extent. So with that being said it is obvious for someone to be fearful over something they don't even know what it is about.

This political cartoon is stating that Obama is very excited about the new health care plan, and that he feels he has the country figured out, and that they are racing with excitement about it, when in fact many are panicking because they don't fully know how it affects them yet, or what the final result will be.

This cartoon is focused on the health care plan Obama has proposed. Obama is very excited about this plan and feels like all americans share his excitement. When in reality americans don't necessarily feel the same excitement as Obama does. The average american doesn't necessarily know exactly what their getting into, and what this health care plan will bring. it shows the state of the average american is not fully confident in the new changes, and our new society.

the point the author is making is that obama will do what he wants with health care, disregarding the public opinion. Many people, as it was obvious, were completely against the health care bill, while others simply didnt know much about it, and obama still went ahead with it. The people's opinion may have spoken in the polls, but when it came to health care obama exercised his authority and made a decision entirely his own.

This is saying that the average American is acting like a small child that can't realize that the mean old doctor who gives you the shots stops you from being sick.

Really, now? Using a giant needle to try and freak people out? Failure of a low blow there. This just serves to highlight the over reaction that many people have had to the healthcare bill. Obama's portrayal as ignorant and oblivious brings to light the insecurities that people have about the being in touch with the government. I find this slightly more reasonable of a point than OMG SOCIALISM! EVERYBODY HEAD TO THE ANTI-COMMIE BOMB SHELTERS! Even so, it is satire, and is an exaggeration of whatever small doubts make it valid.
