Happy Coffins

SO, a Singapore orginazation has created a series of "Happy Coffins" to make funerals less morbid (Click link for article). I think it'll be cool to get people's opinions on this because there are some who believe that funerals should be sad and covered in black. On the other hand, there are people who believe in celebrating the life of the person who died and looking at death in a positive light, in which case they may want a "Happy Coffin."

To be quite honest, I think having sayings like "Don't sad, I had a happy life" is a bit inappropriate in the case of respect towards the deceased. Now, that could just be my Western cultural norms talking, but I know I wouldn't want something degrading like that on my coffin when I die. I do commend their attempt at lightening up the general morbidity of funerals, but that should be up to the deceased's respective family members and organizers of the event.

This is crazy.I cant even believe people are even considering this type of stuff. There are multiple ways to brighten up a funeral, however, turning the coffin into a mural(gone forever when buried) is not one of them. These so called "happy coffins" are uneccessary distractions at a funernal. A funeral is a time you take to remember the dead and grieve, not admire the coffin!
